The technology industry is exploding with need, especially out on the west coast. The industry itself is undergoing its biggest hiring spree in more than a decade, a sign that maybe, just maybe the economy is turning around.
This jump in tech hired highlights what some economists see as a bounce-back in the $805 billion U.S. tech industry that could eventually make a dent in the national unemployment rate of 8.8%.
According to Sophia Koropeckyj, an economist at Moody’s Anaytics, nearly 150,000 tech jobs are expected to be added this year.
This is great news for the entire economy, but I also think that it gives us a glimpse into an increased growth in the economy in the short term. To me, if companies are hiring tech staff, it means they project a growth that they can’t keep up with in house.
What’s also interesting is the niches of technology jobs that are in high demand. Professionals with skills in IT and software engineering and online marketing are in high demand and being seeked out at rapid rates.
At many large job fairs, expos and interactive festivals, large companies will troll the floors hoping to scoop up promising talent in these fields.
For the first time in years, the power is in the hands of the job seeker and not the employee in many of these industries.
According to the USA Today, technology and social websites are exploding, starting the year off with significantly more employees than the year prior.
And companies who previously cut marketing staff are now offering a variety of incentives to prospective marketing professionals like stick options, happy hours, signing bonuses and more.
One thing many people have asked TxMQ president, Chuck Fried, over the past two years of recession is if he has seen a decrease in work flow through the doors because of the economy. Fortunately, TxMQ has escaped the wrath of the recession fairly well. We staff for IT needs and they are deep needs within a company.
The positions we fill and the employees we place at a company are integral to the success of the company. Our skilled consultants run the back end operations of a company, maintain the hardware, develop the new software, etc, and that isn’t an area that can usually be downsized – especially when it can affect the success of the company in the long run.
