Happy Holidays and some advice for 2012

Happy Holidays and some advice for 2012

Dec 23, 2011

By Wendy Sanacore

Happy holidays everyone. As the year comes to a close, take some time to think back on where you started and what you have become in a business sense.

As my year ends, I am able to look back on what I have completed with pride and a sense of accomplishment. I just got a new title here at work. I don’t tell you this to get a pat on the back, I tell you this because I started 2010 with a vigor and a drive to make something of myself at TxMQ. I set out determined to help this company grow.

I didn’t have a complete vision or direction for my position, I just knew that whatever it evolved to, I wanted to go home at night feeling like I contributed to the bottom line of TxMQ’s success. And I have. I have gone from being the Marketing Coordinator to being the Manager of Marketing & Special Projects. And to me, it means something because we have a lot of “special stuff” going on in TxMQ’s pipeline and I think 2012 is going to be a banner year. I can’t wait to be a part if its success.

I tell you this for a reason. To truly be successful, you need to work towards what you want to be, not just work to what you are now. Status quo will get you by day to day, but to truly be that A+ employee, your employer wants to see you go outside of your comfort level, address new challenges, and fall flat on your face in an effort to better yourself.

So at the launch of 2012, sit back and just take a quick look at your goals. Jot down where you are and where you’d like to be. Make a resolution to take a class, learn a new skill or find a new job (if you’re looking, TxMQ can help!). Do something for your career in 2012. I promise, if you work hard and do something you’ve never done before in 2012, you’ll be ready and raring to go next year!
