Aye Dios Mio! The New York Times FINALLY cited what I’ve been saying for months! They must be auditing my blog for ideasJ
On today’s OPENING SCREEN on the New York Times website (www.nytimes.com) was the article, “Manufacturing Is Surprising Bright Spot in U.S. Economy”. Read the full article.
Ugh – SOOOO many cool statistics in this article! I LOVE IT.
For instance, the U.S. has a strong manufacturing presence with industrial machinery, chemicals and transportation equipment. The popular belief is that the U.S. barely manufactures anything because everything we see is “made in china”. While in a retail sense this is true, we are strong with high precision, custom products that cannot necessarily be mass produced on an assembly line.
Since 2010 (considered our recession low) U.S. employers have added 2.4 million new jobs. Manufacturing jobs constitute 302,000 of that figure, “with government payrolls shrinking, and financial services jobs also lower, manufacturing employment has played an important role in keeping the economy growing”.
Manufacturing companies (as an entity) have indicated for 29 consecutive months that they believe business is getting better.
The U.S. is still in the TOP THREE countries for manufacturing exports. China obviously in the lead, Germany and the U.S. competing for 2nd place.
This is all so exciting for me, for the U.S. economy, and for a large chunk of Americans who have an expertise in manufacturing or engineering. THANK YOU NY TIMES – keep those articles coming! Let the world know that we’re still a manufacturing powerhouse!
Lots of techie love,
Corey
