People may view the Holiday season as a time of year that is SO busy with auxiliary joy and mall mobbing that they completely put their job search on hold.
WRONG THING TO DO!
While I will admit that the month of December is a far cry from a busy time of year when it comes to hiring, it is still very much active. Take our agency for example; we have OVER 100 job openings in Engineering and IT. Now multiply that by all of the thousands of agencies operational in the US. That’s a lot of jobs!
Candidates slack on their job search especially between Thanksgiving and the end of the year. Because of this, now is a great time for the “early birds” to get the worm!
If you remain active in your job search through the holidays you are significantly increasing your odds simply because you are available and returning phone calls and emails and your competition IS NOT. You have a better chance of being “the best of what’s available” for open jobs in the 4th quarter.
SO – have yourself a merry little Christmas, or Hanukkah, or Kwanza (et al) and instead of shopping for a great present, go out and GET THAT JOB YOU COVETED ON INDEED!
Don’t delay softy! It’s just like Black Friday shopping – you have to be in line and present to benefit.
